Our sweet girl arrived yesterday at 12:51 pm. 8 pounds 5 ounces, 20 inches. She has a head full of dark hair! Carson and Shane have been so excited for her to arrive, but were completely uninterested in her and kept asking when they got to leave! Silly boys!!

Tommy made the boys costumes again this year. Carson was a crane and Shane was a bulldozer. They love construction vehicles right now and were so excited to wear their costumes. It was difficult to get them to stay still for a picture!

Shane's normal TV watching position....clothes off. He constantly takes his clothes off these days! I'm not sure why, but he loves it. I don't try to put them back on unless we are going somewhere or people are over because it is pointless, they come right back off!

The boys found a new use for Daddy's boots. They filled them with trains then dumped them out for quite a while!

Carson is not napping anymore...usually. He fell asleep sitting up on the couch while Shane was napping.

Watching TV one morning. I'm not sure if they had been up late the night before, but they sure look tired for the morning!

One of their favorite things to do is make a comfy spot which is just a large mound of every pillow in the house. Usually they make it in the living room, but this day they decided Carson's bed was a good spot.

I have been horrible about taking pictures this year, but I'm working on it. I've been trying to leave my camera out so I can catch all the cute things Carson and Shane do. I got some cute pictures at the pool this week! The boys love going to the pool and since it has been so hot that's one of the few places I can handle the heat!

I love this one! He doesn't put his face in the water, but he loves wearing his goggles!

Icy Fun

We have been stuck inside the last few days because of the crazy weather, but we have found some interesting ways to stay busy.....

After two days inside, the boys needed some exercise so I set up the bounce house inside. I wasn't sure it would fit, but it worked! The only bad thing was the fan that blows the air in was louder than I expected. Carson and Shane really had fun!

Tuesday morning Carson wanted to go outside and play in the snow. He didn't understand that it was ice and not snow so I brought some of the sleet in to show him. Once it melted I put it in a cup and put it back outside. It refroze and we brought it back in to play. They loved the big chunk of ice. I don't think I got any pictures, but Shane loved to put his feet on it!

Last night, I put some beads, rocks, bolts, and money in an ice cube tray and put it outside.

We brought them inside this morning to see what happened. Carson and Shane loved touching the ice cubes.

Then we melted the ice cubes by using warm water and a baster. This was lots of fun!

Then we sorted all the little objects. Carson loves to sort, he does it on his own sometimes. Shane mainly likes to mess up the sorting. Yes, they have very different personalities!!

This was such a fun activity! I am planning to do it again in the summer when we can take the ice cubes outside in the heat.

Let Your Light Shine!

I started a letter of the week program with Carson and Shane. I thought it would be something fun and educational. They have really enjoyed it and I have been blown away by what they can do! The program I am using is called Raising Rock Stars Preschool and it is from a blog I read. I love this program because it is based on scripture. I get to teach letters but our main focus is learning God's word. Each week focuses on a different letter, number, color and sight word. This week we did the letter L, number 1, color yellow, and the word see. Each letter also has a memory verse which is the main biblical topic for the week. This week we talked about letting your light shine! I thought it would be fun to do a little video of Carson saying his verse. By Wednesday, he had is down!

After I took the video of Carson, Shane wanted me to do him too. I thought it would be fun to see what he would say. I was completely shock at what I heard! Let me warn you that his video is the most adorable thing you have ever heard!!!

I could not believe he knew the entire verse!!! What an amazing little guy. Two days shy of his second birthday and he memorized his first Bible verse and a lengthy one at that!!!

I didn't take many other pictures of our letter L activities, but here are a few.

Carson writing....he did much better than I expected! He looks so focused in the picture, but is wasn't quite as peaceful as it looks!

Each letter has a power point that goes along with it. This was by far their favorite thing! We have done it every day and multiple times the last two days. They know it word by word.

But this is what they do when the music comes on! I am singing very expressively and they are reclining on the fire place. They enjoy the song, but don't want to sing. It is way more fun to watch me do it myself!

We had such a fun time with the letter L. I can't wait until next week!

4 Little Trains

Carson and Shane love the Thomas trains. Tommy had the idea to make train Halloween costumes for our boys and Andrew and AJ. He used diaper boxes, spray paint, tape and lots of creativity! They were amazing!!

Tommy made the funnels out of cups so the boys could put their candy in there. That was a huge hit and part of the reason the costumes stayed on the whole night! We were expecting the boys to love them for 5 minutes and be done, but they wore them all night.

Shane carried his "pukin bucket" all night. Even after it got a little heavy from all the candy, he did not want me to hold it. He cried when I took it from him to buckle him in his car seat, but settled right down when I gave it back to him. He held it the entire way home, even after I took all the candy out because he was trying to eat it with the wrappers on!

The State Fair

Here are a few pictures from our visit to the State Fair. The kids had a great time! They got to try some interesting new foods and play with Gigi and Pops. We got to visit the Children's Aquarium that is reopening at Fair Park. They didn't have all the exhibits ready,but Carson and Shane loved the ones that were open.

Yes, they look so sweet and still, but what a challenge it was to get a picture with all four boys sitting next to one another and looking in the direction of the camera. Melissa did an amazing job! After seeing how crazy the boys are while we are taking pictures, I am always amazed that she is able to get so many good pictures. Shane was the difficult one this time. He did not want to sit, he just wanted to run!! These are some of my favorites.....

The Zoo

We took our first family trip to the Zoo at the beginning of April. Carson and Shane loved all the animals!

There are pony rides in the children's area, but Carson DID NOT want to get on the pony! He did enjoy petting it.

We walked right by the camel rides thinking Carson wouldn't be interested, but he ran up the stairs and said he wanted to ride the camel! I guess the camel looked like more fun than the pony.

Carson got to feed the birds! I was so surprised that he let the bird get so close. I really thought he would be too scared to do it, but he loved it! He still talks about it!

A Day Out With Thomas

In March, we went to Grapevine with Gran and Grandpa to ride Thomas the Tank Engine. All the boys had a blast! Carson and Andrew love Thomas.

Shane Bug

The last year has gone by so fast! It is hard to believe that Shane was a newborn a year ago. He is a big boy now! He has such a sweet smile and personality. He loves to laugh and play with Carson.

He is starting to walk well. He can walk across the room without falling now. He has put more bruises on his head in the last week than Carson has had his entire life. Shane is fearless. He started climbing on things before he could walk. I expect to find him climbing the shelves soon.

Carson had so much fun in the snow! His poor little hands were freezing before I could talk him into coming inside. I had to promise hot chocolate, his first! He saw Polar Express over Christmas and sang "Oh, we got it" while he drank it. Shane wanted nothing to do with the snow! Did not want to stand in it, sit in it or touch it!

My Big Boy

I can't believe Carson is already two! He is talking so much now and picking up so many new phrases! He insists on being called a big boy. If I tell him he is a sweet boy, he says "Carson no sweet boy, Carson sweet BIG boy!" Carson is not a cute boy, he is a cute big boy. He is not good boy, he is a good big boy! Last night at dinner, Carson got to have a piece of cake. He took the first bite and said, "This is amazing!" He got lots of laughs so continued to say it after each bite.

In January, he got to move up to the 2 year old class at church. They have a memory verse for each month and I was surprised at how quickly he memorized the first one! He knows, Love God with all your heart and we are working on With God all things are possible. How amazing it is to hear God's truth come from his mouth!

Today, Tommy and I have been married 5 years. I really can't believe it has already been 5 years. It is amazing how our life has changed. I am truly blessed to have married such a wonderful husband and father. I love him more now than I did 5 years ago. Here are a few reasons why I love and appreciate my husband.

1. He loves Jesus.
2. He fixes thing around the house.
3. He sold his truck and bought me a minivan.
4. He takes out the trash before I ask.
5. He leaves me little love notes.
6. He massages my shoulders anytime I ask.
7. He gets up with the boys on Saturday so I can sleep in.
8. He changes diapers.
9. He is always encouraging to me.
10. He reads parenting books with me.
11. He rarely works late.
12. He will watch chick flicks with me.
13. He serves at church.
14. He loves his boys.
15. He enjoys spending time with my family.
16. He does dishes.
17. He grills.
18. He takes care of all the yard work.
19. He spends quality time with the boys.
20 He always makes me feel safe.
21. He spends time just talking with me.
22. He prays with me and with our boys.
23. He shows the boys he loves them, but also says it.
24. He did late night feedings with both boys.
25. He leads our family by example.

I can't wait to see what the next 5 years brings.

Happy Father's Day

Before Tommy and I had kids, I knew he was going to be a good dad. He is so patient and caring. I imagined him taking the boys fishing and camping and for bike rides. But each day I am amazed at what an incredible father he is. He makes an effort to spend time with the boys and give them his full attention. He changes diapers, reads books, gives baths, cuddles, plays cars, wrestles, chases, feeds, and cleans up after our little guys. Twice a week he does dinner, bath, book and bed routine by himself while I tutor. He gets up with the boys on Saturday mornings so I can sleep in. He does all these things not because he has to, but because he truly enjoys the time he gets to spend with his boys. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful daddy for a husband. He is the best daddy in the world!

Carson and Shane are growing so fast. I love taking pictures of them in the pajamas! Carson loves when I put Shane in bed with him. When I go to get Carson out of bed in the mornings, he points to his pillow and says "Shane" until I put Shane in there.

Carson and Shane both slept until 8:00 this morning! Tommy and I were very excited that it was Saturday and we both got to sleep late. Usually Shane gets up between 6:30 and 7 and Carson gets up between 7 and 7:30. Occationally one will sleep late, but never both. I think it was their Father's Day gift to their daddy.

Carson ......

**loves to give Shane kisses. He does it on his own now.

**likes to shove his pants between the changing table and wall when I change his diaper.

**thinks thank you also means give me.

**LOVES lights. He likes to turn them on and off and point to every light he sees! I think he might even say light more than no.

**likes to turn things off. Off is his third favorite word after light and no.

**says hi to everyone at the store. He will say hi to someone until they acknowledge him. Sometimes it takes 10 or more times, but he is very persistent.

**wants to be outside all the time!

Going for a Ride

We got Tommy a bike trailer for Father's Day. I let him pick it out so he got it a few days early. The one he picked out has a handle you can attach and it turns into a jogging stroller. I hope that doesn't mean I have to jog now! He got to take Carson for his first ride this morning. Carson had fun, but he's not real fond of the helmet yet. What a fun daddy!

Baby Food

Shane started eating baby food this week. I'm not sure that you can really call it eating yet. He gets more food on him than in him and he makes the funniest faces when I put the food in his mouth. He doesn't seem to like it yet, but I'm sure in another week or two he will love it!

A couple weeks ago, I put Shane down for tummy time and this is what Carson did! He's already trying to wrestle with his little brother. He did it again today too! I'm not sure why he does it, but Shane thinks it is really funny!

For Mother's Day, we went to the Adolphus for afternoon tea. The tea and food was really good and it was very relaxing. They had one tea called Pear Carmel that we all really liked.

2 months and 15 months

Today we took Carson for his 15 month check up and Shane for his 2 month check up. We have two healthy boys! They both had to get 3 shots, but were very brave. When we got home fromt he doctor, they both took 2 hour naps! Mommy and Daddy got a nap in too.

Shane is 13 lbs and 0.5 oz and 23.5 in. He is smiling and laughing so much now. He has started sleeping 6-7 hours at night!

Carson is 25.5 lbs and 33 in. He got to go play at the park today and even posed for a picture!

Why do boys.....

Why do boys put everything in their mouths excepts vegetables???

Carson loves to play outside, but I have to watch him very close. He puts everything in his mouth. He was playing in his sand box and put a handful of sand in his mouth. It didn't say anything because I thought he wouldn't like the way it tasted and wouldn't do it again. I was wrong! He did it 2 more times. I finally had to tell him to stop. When we go to the playground, he likes to put the mulch in his mouth. Dirt, grass, leaves, flowers....he likes them all!

Now green vegetables on the other hand, he spits out! He liked the baby food green beans and peas and would eat real green beans and peas for a while. But now he won't eat them! I think once he tried other foods, he decided the green beans and peas didn't taste as good as he remembered.

Out for a Walk

I love my double stroller! I looked at several, but liked this one because it was a side by side and I could fit Shane's carrier in it. The best thing about it is that it only weighs 14 pounds! Carson loves going for walks in the stroller. I have been trying to get out for a walk when the weather is nice.

Shane is getting so big! I don't think he looks like a newborn anymore. He is filling out his 3 month clothes. I think he will be in 3-6 month clothes in another week or two.

I have to say that I really love the Swaddle Me wraps. They worked really well to calm Carson down and help him sleep. We tried them when we first brought Shane home, but they didn't seem to help him sleep so I stopped using them. He had only been sleeping 3 hours at night so I decided to try swaddling him and see if it made a difference. He slept 5 hours last night and 6 hours the night before! He has also been waking up crying during his naps, but since I started swaddling him he will wake up, make a few noises, then go back to sleep. He is such a good baby!

Shane has started smiling! He likes to lay on the floor under the fan and smile. He also smiles when he looks at the letters above his changing table.

Carson

Carson has started saying lots of words. If I ask him to say something, he will try his best. Most of the words are unrecognizable, but there are a few words he says well. He loves to say dog when he see a dog, even if it is on TV. He tries to say Shane and it is adorable! Banana is another word he says well.

He loves to play outside in his sandbox. He goes to the back door and says side when he wants to go and play. He grabs handfuls of sand and throws them on the ground. He ends up being cover from head to toe in sand!

Carson loves bath time! If you ask if he wants a bath, he will say bath. He likes to let the water out, but that doesn't mean he wants to get out of the tub.

Carson loves his daddy! He gets so excited when Tommy comes home. They wrestle and read books together, two of Carson's favorite things.

Shane gets more adorable everyday! I was hoping to have some pictures of Shane and Carson, but Carson loves to look at pictures on the camera which makes it hard to take pictures of him. They are really cute together. Carson likes to giggle at Shane and poke him. It doesn't seem to bother Shane. I am amazed that Shane will sleep through Carson playing and squealing and Carson will sleep through Shane crying. They are so much fun!

This week was my first time at home with both of them and it went pretty well. Carson is such an independent boy that he doesn't mind that I am holding Shane so much. He will go in his playroom and play while I feed Shane. Occasionally he will get upset when Shane cries, but most of the time he doesn't seem to notice that Shane is around. I actually made it out of the house twice this week with both boys. We took a trip to Babies R Us on Tuesday and on Wednesday we went to get Carson's hair cut then to Target. Shane slept the entire time and Carson was so good! I know every outing won't be like this, but I will enjoy it while it lasts!

Introducing Shane William Holland

Waiting for Shane to arrive.....Shane William Holland was born February 4 at 5:40 pm. He was 8 lbs 3 oz and 19.5 inches. Tommy and his boys! Carson wasn't really sure what to think about Shane. He came to visit everyday in the hospital, but I don't think he realized Shane was coming home with us. The first time he heard Shane cry, he started crying too.Shane's cute little faces!

Shane is doing great! He lost a little too much weight when we left the hospital so we had to take him to get weighed today. He was 7 lbs 4 oz on Saturday and was 7 lbs 11 oz today! They only expect him to gain an ounce a day so he is doing great! Carson has been staying with his grandparents, but is coming home today. He hasn't been very interested in Shane so far, but I think he will once he is here with him a while. I am hoping to get some good pictures of them together very soon.

I'M HAVING A BABY TODAY!

Wow, I can't believe today is finally here. It still seems crazy that I am going to have two little boys by the end of the day. We don't have to be at the hospital until 10:30 so we are taking it easy this morning. It's been really nice to have this delivery planned. My mom came and picked up Carson yesterday and is going to keep him until Friday. Then he gets to spend a few days with Gigi and Pops. Tommy and I went to go see a movie last night. I don't think we have been to the movies since the summer! We both got to have one last night of sleep for a few months. Well, I slept as well as any woman who is 9 months pregnant! Luckily Tommy slept well. He didn't get any sleep the night before Carson was born.

We are both so excited for Shane to arrive. I can't wait to see what he looks like. I keep imagining that he is going to look a lot like Carson, but he could have Mommy's red hair and Daddy's green eyes. I think he is going to be a big baby. My weight guess is 8 lbs 8 oz and Tommy's is 8 lbs 5 oz. I absolutely think he will be over 8 lbs.

I can't believe my baby is already one! This is a picture of him waking up on his birthday. I'm sure he won't be as smiley when I do this in a few years! You can see the mural in his new room that Gigi painted. I need to take some good pictures of it and post them. It turned out so cute!

Christmas 2008

Carson had a great first Christmas. We let him open one present early for practice. He loves our cell phones so we got him one of his own.

We got to celebrate Christmas with Gigi and Pops the Sunday before Christmas. At first, Carson was more interested in the coasters than the presents. He got a wagon that he loves to take rides in.

Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, we went to Nanny's house to celebrate. Andrew brought baseball cupcakes for Jesus' birthday because everyone needs baseball cupcakes on their birthday. Carson and Andrew enjoyed the cupcakes. This was Carson's first taste of cake. He didn't have any icing. We are saving that for his first birthday!

Nanny had a dancing Santa under her tree that Carson liked. He even danced with it a few times! He does love to dance.

Carson got his first haircut yesterday. He was such a good boy! He sat in the race car and watched himself steer in the mirror. I didn't realize how much hair he had until she started cutting it. His new haircut it so cute!

Shane's new furniture came in a big box that Tommy turned into a fort for Carson. Carson and Hannah had a great time playing in it on Thursday. Hannah thought it was fun that she could get inside it and then move it. Carson just liked following Hannah.

I have not been doing a very good job of updating my blog! Carson loves to push the buttons on the keyboard so I only get on the computer when he is sleeping or playing with Daddy. And lately when he is napping, I have been napping! I forgot how tried the third trimester makes me.

I am amazed at how quickly Carson went from taking a couple of steps to walking everywhere. He loves to walk now. He still hasn't figured out how to stand up without pulling up on something. He usually walks until he loses he balance and falls then he crawls to the closest thing he can pull up on. I am so glad he is walking before Shane gets here!

At my last doctors appointment, we scheduled my c-section for February 4. Unless Shane decides to arrive early, he will be born on the 4th. I can't believe how fast this pregnancy has gone! I am really excited for him to get here. It is going to be so much fun watching Carson and him together.

Carson turned 11 months old on Saturday and still has no teeth! Last night I made pasta with meatballs and we decided to see if Carson would eat it. He really liked the pasta with sauce on it. He is such a messy eater that we decided to take his shirt off. He got the sauce all over himself!

Carson loves to point at things he wants. He is pointing at the camera because he loves to look at the pictures I have taken. He really likes to get Mommy or Daddy to pick him up then point at where he wants to go.

Carson is finally walking! He took his first steps at Courtney's house a couple weeks ago and then would not walk any more. Tommy and I decided he must have been showing off for Hannah. He finally decided to walk again on Wednesday. Here is a video of him walking on Wednesday. Since then, he tries to walk every where. It is amazing how fast he learned!

First Halloween

Carson's first Halloween was so much fun! He looked so cute in his Superman costume.

Thursday, he went to visit Gigi and Pops to show off his costume and celebrate Mommy and Daddy's birthdays.

On Halloween, he went to the trunk or treat at Nanny's church.

Tommy took Tuesday off so we could go to the fair. Carson had a great time. He loved watching all the people. This is his first picture with Big Tex.

It started raining as we were passing the Science Place so we decided to go in and take a look. They have all kinds of fun exhibits and a huge educational play area downstairs. Carson liked the turtle.

You can't go to the fair without checking out the animals. Carson gets so excited when animals are around, especially when he gets to touch them. He liked the goat's horns.

I do have the cutest baby in the world! This weekend we were playing and Carson discovered the door stops. He thought they were pretty funny, but he really thought is was funny when Daddy pulled on them. Take a look!

It's hard to read, but it says 100% boy! At the top you can see his two little legs and his boy parts as the doctor says.

Carson is going to have so much fun with his little brother! Andrew better watch out, he's going to be double teamed pretty soon. We don't have a name yet, but we are discussing it. The doctor said all the organs looked good and he is 11 ounces right now. He is measuring right at 20 weeks so he should be here at the beginning of February!

Carson crawled for the first time last night! He has been getting up on his hands and knees for over a week, but not moving. Last night we decided to bribe him with some puffs and he finally crawled. Here is a little video from today. He still needs a little incentive and food works the best.

Carson is getting so big! I am amazed each day at how quickly he is growing. I was getting him dressed today and thought I would try one of his 18 month shirts. I thought it would be a little big, but it was cute. It actually fit him! He is only 8 months old and he can wear 18 month shirts. I can't believe it!

Carson has had a little runny nose the past couple of days. He usually only gets to have his pacifier when he goes to bed. But since he hasn't been feeling well, he has been getting it a little more often. He decided it was fun to have one in his mouth and play with the other one. He also has a puff stuck to the end of his pacifier. He was finished with his puff so he put his pacifier in his mouth. Then he found one more, but wasn't sure how to get it in his mouth with the pacifier in the way. I guess he is saving it for later.

We spent Saturday at Nanny's house. We discovered that Carson loves pickles. He chewed on that pickle for about 20 minutes. He didn't even make any faces! He must take after his Uncle Jordan.

The big day is finally here! Gran is going skydiving! Grandpa and Gran arrive on the Harley!

After skydiving, we went to Gran's so Carson and Andrew could play with their new train. Andrew loves the make the train noise and Carson just giggles at him. He thinks Andrew is so funny!

Andrew has given Carson his first nickname........SNAKE! Carson kept sticking out his tongue so Andrew decided he should be called Snake.

Carson and Hannah's First Play Date

Hannah came over to play today. She is the daughter of one of the couples in our life group. Carson and Hannah will be playing together several days a week while Courtney and I tutor. Hannah turned one at the beginning of the month. As I was watching them play, I couldn't believe they are the same size! They are so cute together! Carson spent the first 5 minutes giggling at Hannah.

Last week, we went to Medieval Times with my family. Carson had a great time despite his frowny face! Sometimes he gets the funniest faces when the red light comes on before a pictures is taken.
